CSRC Update: A Year in Review for Research
A year ago, Premier Eby announced that the Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC) would help “define the future of medicine” at the new Jim Pattison Medical Campus. Here’s what we’ve accomplished this year and what’s on the horizon for the CSRC.
Read the newsletterThe CSRC is the future home of specialty medical offices and clinics, Providence Research programs, an innovation centre, corporate services and a childcare centre. The new facility will integrate research and clinical practice, bringing together researchers, clinicians and academics in a world class environment to share ideas, foster novel discoveries, co-develop solutions and bring preventions, treatments and cures from lab to market back to the patient.
The new facility is being designed by award-winning team Diamond Schmitt Architects, together with Kirsten Reite Architecture. Its modern and innovative design will create intentional collaborative spaces that promote information-sharing, engagement and scientific discourse. The CSRC will also include infrastructure for emerging technology such as 3D bio-printing, research data and analytics.
With a consolidated Phase 1-3 CTU, the CSRC will be one of the only facilities in Western Canada capable of conducting all phases of non-cancer clinical trials, taking life-saving treatments from concept to completion.
The CSRC will be the gateway to a transformative circle of research, discovery, treatment, and compassionate care. This world-class facility will serve as an anchor for Vancouver’s emerging hub for discovery and learning, bolstering B.C.’s life sciences community and ensuring that Providence Health Care will continue to be at the forefront of medical advancements which improve the lives of people living in B.C. and all over the world.
