The University of British Columbia (UBC) is changing its bank accounts from HSBC Bank Canada to the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).  The new RBC bank accounts are open effective January 13, and the old HSBC accounts will be closed January 24. Please note that this change only impacts studies and payments held at UBC. Any studies or payments made to Providence Research remain unchanged. Please reach out to Tracy Yang, Manager, Finance, tyang7@providencehealth.bc.ca, for the new UBC RBC account details.

For units that include banking information on invoices to customers, the RBC banking details should be used going forwards. Please indicate clearly to customers that bank details are changing.

Where invoices are issued by units and no banking details are included on the invoice, and the customer currently pays by check, no action is required – Workday will automatically include the new account details for those users when processing the check. This change only impacts customers who pay by wire or EFT directly into UBC bank accounts.

Where invoicing is performed by the FOM Accounts Receivable team, that team will update their invoices and notify customers.

It is likely that in many cases, customers will wish to independently confirm that the change of banking details is genuine. If a customer makes this request, please refer them to Kim Fowler at fom.accountsreceivable@ubc.ca.

We additionally want to extend a welcome to Laura Turcotte, our new Director, Administration, who will be overseeing both Human Resources and Finance in her portfolio. She can be reached by email at lturcotte2@providencehealth.bc.ca and by phone at 236-982-4143.

Please reach out to Tracy Yang and Laura Turcotte with any questions or concerns regarding this announcement.
