Our Mission, Vision and Values
Welcome to the Providence Research website. We are the research partner of Providence Health Care. As a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, we take pride in our researchers and programs that actively explore new ways of improving the health of our community.
We believe this research not only makes for a robust learning environment, but also leads to better patient care. The integration of research, education and care is what makes our Institute’s mission a possibility.
At Providence Research, our expertise include laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological research in the fields of HIV/AIDS, heart disease, renal disease, gastro-intestinal diseases, psychiatry, geriatrics, and much more.
Vision
A place where patient-centred research is driven by social justice, and redefines better health and care globally.

The Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes (Advancing Health)
Through interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship of emerging health researchers, Advancing Health produces and translates high-quality evidence that informs health care from the individual to the system level.
The Centre for Cardiovascular Innovation (CCI-CIC)
The CCI-CIC is a clinical research operations centre that provides its member cardiovascular investigators with access to dedicated, expert personnel as well as organizational and physical infrastructure that will enhance their research scope and capacity.
Clinical Support and Research Centre
Our new health innovation hub at the St. Paul’s Hospital campus known, for now, as the Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC), will be the cornerstone and economic driver for Vancouver’s newest health innovation district for discovery and learning in the False Creek Flats area.
Directly adjacent to the future hospital, the CSRC will be a multi-building, approximately 47,000 square metre (~800,000 square feet) state-of-the-art research, technology and medical complex allowing St. Paul’s Hospital to further embed research and innovation into everything we do.
